(Primary Level)

1. Primary Years Programme (ages 3 – 12)

2. International Primary Curriculum (ages 5 – 11)

3. English national curriculum (ages 5 – 16)

4. American curriculum (ages 5 – 17)

5. National curricula of other countries

(Secondary Level)

1. IGCSE (ages 14 – 17)

2. International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (ages 16 – 19)

7th December, 2018

Dear parents

It is hard to believe that I am already writing my final update of the term. It seems like only yesterday that I joined KTJ. Things have gone so fast - KTJ is such a vibrant and busy place. I have had a fantastic term and enjoyed every moment of it. Yesterday was the final assembly for Secondary School students before they departed for their holidays and I used it as an opportunity to sum up some of my early thoughts on the School. I explained to them that the School will be developing a 10-year strategic plan over the coming two terms and at the heart of this will be ensuring that we are always continuing to improve the quality of the education provided. This is because I feel it is something which any institution can always improve, and it is important not to rest on our laurels. At the same time, I talked to the students about wanting the School to be better connected with the local community, through links with local charities for instance, and about wanting students to have a louder voice in the School. The benefits of student voice were made clear to me earlier this week when I had a very productive meeting with the Student Council, who had gathered views on the refurbishment of the Tuck Shop.

For Primary School there is, of course, still one week to go and I am very much looking forward to the Winter Production next Tuesday and to the excitement which there will undoubtedly be around the School next Friday.

This week saw the running of the annual cross country in the Secondary School and, as a house event, it had all the colour and noise I have come to expect. The students showed great dedication and perseverance and the results were impressive, with the course record being broken in three of the four categories. Congratulations to Naquiyuddin House on winning Junior and Senior Boys, Naquiah for winning Junior Girls, and Irinah for winning Senior Girls.

This week I have also enjoyed watching IGCSE Drama students present their solo pieces, which make up 20% of their final examination. The performances were very powerful and the confidence of the students really shone through to me. Yesterday I popped into Mr. Dan's class again to hear Form 3 perform a superbly-arranged version of Radioactive.

Last weekend was particularly busy, with a wonderful concert presented by Form 1. It was good to see so many parents in support. My thanks go to Ms. Tina and Mr. Dan for producing such a high-quality and entertaining show. Sunday saw the Mak Cik Day, arranged by PTPI, with the help of Ms. Sharifah, to thank our support staff and their families for the amazing work they do; and a Snow Ball, spectacularly decorated and arranged by Prom Comm, with the help of Ms. Emma.

The range and quality of extra-curricular activities at KTJ is impressive and I am pleased to introduce you to the Secondary School's ECA magazine (click here), which outlines what is on offer for next term. Yesterday the Primary School also published their schedule for the new term - please see Whatsapp for details.

Please do get in touch if there is anything you would like to talk to me about. I can be contacted on principal@ktj.edu.my or you can telephone the School on 06-7582561 to make an appointment to see me.

I will be out of the office from 15 December until 1 January, but Ms. Anne and Ms. Harvinder are available in my office should you require any assistance.

I wish you all happy holidays!

With best wishes

Dr Glenn Moodie

Principal
